Ask Hank: Chafing

Dear Hank,

I recently finished, “Born to Run,” and I’m sold that there is something inherent in our bodies that makes us great at running. What I’m wondering is, were we then also born to chafe? Between my thighs and my armpits I’m not convinced I was engineered to run.

Help?

Red and Raw in Kentucky

Dear Red and Raw in Kentucky,

Sorry to hear of your blight. Have you considered laser therapy? Removing all of your hair everywhere is a pretty effective method. Also, you could just get thinner so your arms don’t touch your sides and your legs don’t touch.

Just a thought.

Other ideas:

  1. Run more
  2. Rub honey in your sore areas before a run to increase chaffing and build up good strong calluses
  3. Run less
  4. Rub sand paper in your sore areas before a run to increase chaffing and build up good strong calluses

Glad I could be of use.

Slick as a pile of wax,

Hank
